Presentation

On May 9th 2019 President Jimmy Vinyard presented Nicole Clowney with a desk plaque and an offical Fayetteville Firefighters Members Shirt to thank her for all the work she has done to pass laws to protect firefighters who are fighting cancer. She has stepped up and proved she is a friend to all Firefighters.

APFF Convention

During the week of May 14th through the 17th the Fayetteville Firefighters had 11 members attend the annual Arkansas Professional Firefighters Association convention. The convention was hosted by Jonesboro Local 3718. Our members attend several lectures and classes to help improve their knowledge of what’s going on around the state and nation with firefighters issues.

IAFF General Secretary/Treasurer Edward Kelly gave a speech about the IAFF role in mental health and cancer. He told us why the IAFF was supporting Joe Biden for President. He made it clear that the decision was made based solely on firefighter job related issues and that Biden’s track record for those issues was solid. 14th district Vice President Danny Todd gave a report of what’s going on in our districts. He spoke of legislation that has helped us and some that has hurt us in the 14th district. (Ark. Tenn. Miss. La)

We were provided with a lot of good information about firefighter mental health from the IAFF Center of Excellence and Dr. Tania Glenn. The APFF vote to have Dr. Glenn teach a class about preventing mental issues firefighters will be dealing with. It will be hosted by the Fayetteville Firefighters. We will put out more information about it as we get it set up.

We attended classes on Union Governance, the IAFF SMART program, Union finances, and others. All of this was done to help improve our local and us better to serve you.

MDA Boot Drive

The Fayetteville Firefighters would like to thank everyone who donated to our annual Fill The Boot Drive for MDA. We reached and went over our goal for this year thanks to you. We will be announcing the final total at the end of May once we have made the donation to MDA.  All the money raised stays right here in Arkansas and helps our friends and neighbors who suffer from this terrible disease.
